Abstract: LIDAR survey and associated data of the Lake Taupo foreshore and surrounding land to provide detailed level data to the Lake Taupo Foreshore Management Strategy project.
Statement: The data will be used for hydraulic modelling, flood hazard mapping, water catchment investigations, shoreline landscape assessments, storm and sewer scheme investigations, and planning processes. The Data Set is complete as of 2006. The features GIS_ALL.LIDAR_LAKE_TAUPO_2006_TILES and GIS_ALL.LIDAR_LAKE_TAUPO_2006_EXTENT were loaded into the WRC Corporate Oracle Spatial Database on the 21 May 2014 and are available for download. The LiDAR Data & NZAM supplied metadata is stored in S:\Corporate_Data\ARCHIVE\LIDAR\TAUPO_2006. Other Information: Geographic Extent: The geographic extent of the data is delineated by GIS_ALL.LIDAR_LAKE_TAUPO_2006_EXTENT. Projection and Co-ordinates: Horizontal projection is New Zealand Transverse Mercator (NZTM) projection using the NZ Geodetic Datum 2000. Vertical datum is Moturiki 1953 MSL height datum. Positional Accuracy: Horizontal accuracy of +/- 0.5 meter rms or better (at 68% confidence). Vertical accuracy of +/- 0.15 meter rms relative to NZGD2000 ellipsoid or better (at 68% confidence). Please note that the accuracies only apply over clear well defined ground features. LiDAR can not see through all foliage types. Any areas of poor data will be isolated within a polygon and not contoured. Period and Frequency of Record: The data was captured between 19 June 2006 and 24 July 2006. Abstract: Water reflection LiDAR returns (ASCII XYZI) - Lake Taupo foreshore 2006 LiDAR capture.
Statement: The water reflection LiDAR point clouds were produced from the classified dataset into ASCII XYZI format (I being the intensity value of the LiDAR pulse return).
Other Information: Geographic Extent: The geographic extent of the data is delineated by GIS_ALL.LIDAR_LAKE_TAUPO_2006_EXTENT. Projection and Co-ordinates: Horizontal projection is New Zealand Transverse Mercator (NZTM) projection using the NZ Geodetic Datum 2000. Vertical datum is Moturiki 1953 MSL height datum. Positional Accuracy: Horizontal accuracy of +/- 0.5 meter rms or better (at 68% confidence). Vertical accuracy of +/- 0.15 meter rms relative to NZGD2000 ellipsoid or better (at 68% confidence). Please note that the accuracies only apply over clear well defined ground features. LiDAR can not see through all foliage types. Any areas of poor data will be isolated within a polygon and not contoured. Period and Frequency of Record: The data was captured between 19 June 2006 and 24 July 2006. Updates may be done in the future as required. Data Quality: Average of about 1 m point spacing or sufficient to meet the project requirements. Data to be thinned, where it does not compromise accuracy, but supply the points that have been removed so they can be used if required. Separate ground and non-ground data sets. Data Acquisition Method(s): Airborne Laser Scanner Global Parameters: Laser - LEICA ALS50, Nominal Flight Height - 1800m above terrain, Actual Flight Height - 1200m above terrain, Nominal Swath Width - 1000m, Actual Swath Width -??, Horizontal Accuracy - 0.50m at 1, Vertical Accuracy - 0.15m at 1, Navigating Mode - GPS based, Positioning Mode - DGPS, For further information, refer to the Third Schedule of EW DOCS#1054629.
