File ID: 722E9B48-05D6-4331-9A8A-6282E11E81E3
Hierarchy Level: dataset
Abstract: A predicted Fish Index of Biotic Integrity (F-IBI) uses characteristics of the fish community modeled for wadeable stream segments (order 1-4) using GIS parameters relative to what would be expected if there were no human impacts.

Hierarchy Level: feature Hierarchy Level Name:Feature of Environment Classification (REC) - Fish Index of Biotic Integrity
Abstract: Values for a predicted Fish Index of Biotic Integrity for all order 1-4 River Environment Classification (REC) reaches in the Waikato Region.
Statement: The F-IBI is developed using the values for fish prediction across the Waikato Region (see EWDOCS# 1063390). Parameters such as the number of native species, number of benthic riffle species, number of benthic pool and pelagic pool species, number of tolerant species and proportion of invasive species are all used to calculate F-IBI values. F-IBI values have been calculated for each individual REC reach in the Waikato Region.
Other Information: The values were supplied under contract to Waikato Regional Council by: Institute of Natural Resources – Massey University. Geographic Extent: The entire Waikato Region. This dataset is non-spatial. However it is commonly used with the REC dataset. For information on the positional accuracy of the REC dataset see EWDOCS# 935413. The prediction variables are currently a one off result. The F-IBI is developed using the values for fish prediction across the Waikato Region (see EWDOCS# 1063390). Parameters such as the number of native species, number of benthic riffle species, number of benthic pool and pelagic pool species, number of tolerant species and proportion of invasive species are all used to calculate F-IBI values. F-IBI values have been calculated for each individual REC reach in the Waikato Region. Data Quality: As supplied. Attribute Accuracy: As supplied. Complete for all reaches of REC in the Waikato Region. The attribute NZREACH is consistent with the attribute NZREACH in the GIS_ALL.REC_WATERCOURSE dataset (see EWDOCS# 935413). Currently stored in Oracle as GIS feature GIS_ALL.REC_FISH_IDX_BIOTIC_INTEGRITY This dataset is designed for use with the River Environments Classification (REC) – see EWDOCS# 935413. A match can be made between the NZREACH column of this dataset and the NZREACH column of the GIS_ALL.REC_WATERCOURSE dataset. Doing this adds a geometry value to each fish and probability value.
