| Abstract: |
This data set is a collation of known historical (legacy) information about survey benchmarks created by WRC or captured during survey work of importance to WRC. Survey benchmarks are used to calibrate monitoring or as-built survey work around the region. This dataset doesnt duplicate the current-day LINZ geodetic marks dataset. This spatial layer aims to provide safekeeping for this historical data, and allow distribution of data to internal and external users. |

This dataset was created under job request REQ173829. The historical data compilation involved three main parts: i) transcription of information from survey records cards onto a spreadsheet; ii) conversion of the spreadsheet (which contained coordinate columns) into a GIS layer then KML file; then iii) conversion of the refined KML (which contained the most up to date information/adjustments) into and ESRI dataset. This layer was cleaned to tidy up attribute consistency then loaded to the corporate GIS database. |
