HAZARD.sdeadmin.BUILDING_OUTLINES_CDEM

File Identifier: 99EDE431-3093-3AE8-E055-000000000001 Parent Identifier: 5CF56C18-E7BE-18CF-E055-000000000001
Hierarchy Level: feature Hierarchy Level Name:Feature of Outlines Data
Abstract: Building outlines observed in aerial imagery larger than or equal to 10 square meters are captured in this dataset, and may include structures such as garages and large sheds. Clipped to Waikato Region and CDEM boundary for CDEM use.
Statement: This dataset includes the spatial coverage of building outlines using remotely sensed information. A building outline is a 2D representation of the roof outline of buildings which have been classified from aerial imagery using a combination of automated and manual processes to extract and orthogonalise building roof outlines. Structures greater than or equal to 10 square meters are captured in this dataset, with exception in National Parks, Conservation Areas, and Wildlife Areas. Each building polygon represents a building outline and this may include spaces such as garages and large sheds. The building outlines represented in this dataset should not be confused with building footprints, which are 2D representations of where a building touches the ground.

Hierarchy Level: feature Hierarchy Level Name:Feature of Outlines Data
Abstract: Building outlines observed in aerial imagery larger than or equal to 10 square meters are captured in this dataset, and may include structures such as garages and large sheds. Waikato Region only.
Statement: A building outline is a 2D representation of the roof outline of a building which has been classified from LINZ aerial imagery using a combination of automated and manual processes to extract and refine a building roof outline. Data vintage:This dataset shows the most recent set of building outlines extracted from the LINZ aerial imagery available on the LINZ Data Service as at May 2019. Since aerial imagery is flown only every few years in each region of the country, building outlines only reflect those buildings observed at the date of this aerial imagery capture, and may not reflect buildings constructed after this time period.

Attribute Information

NameDescriptionNotesRestrictedPrimary Key
BUILDING_ID a persistent building identifier  if the geometry of a building is updated, for example from new aerial imagery, the building_id will remain the same. last_modified stores the most recent date that an attribute or geometry update occurred. N N
NAME Currently empty N N
USE N N
SUBURB_LOCALITY N N
TOWN_CITY N N
TERRITORIAL_AUTHORITY N N
CAPTURE_METHOD Generally Feature Extraction or Trace Orthophotography Feature extraction consists of image processing techniques to determine building outline geometries from imagery. Trace orthophotography is where a building outline has been manually digitised from imagery. N N
CAPTURE_SOURCE_GROUP For all building outlines in the current dataset, the relevant capture source group is NZ Aerial Imagery. N N
CAPTURE_SOURCE_ID N N
CAPTURE_SOURCE_NAME The name of the capture source is the name of an aerial imagery layer also freely available on the LINZ Data Service, for example Auckland 0.075m Urban Aerial Photos (2017). N N
CAPTURE_SOURCE_FROM This is the date range for the capture of the related aerial imagery. We can therefore be confident that the physical building existed at some point within this range. N N
CAPTURE_SOURCE_TO This is the date range for the capture of the related aerial imagery. We can therefore be confident that the physical building existed at some point within this range. N N
