| Statement: |
Urban and rural boundaries are also used in the creation of urban and rural parcel and property layers.
The Urban footprint layer was created on the 23 August 2004, updated in August 2008, updated February 2012 and updated October 2015.
Data Acquisition Method(s):
The Urban footprint Data was captured to the following specifications.
1. Queried LCDB2 where LCDB2NAME = 'Built-up Area'
2. Queried CRS for Parcels < 1Ha
Spatial Merge of item 2.
Digitised around the outside of this where the LCDB2 Built up area was greater than 10Ha.
Visually verified the result against the WRAPS 2002, 2006 and 2012 and CRS Parcel October 2015 data and adjusted the area output to the parcels where possible.
The Rural footprint layer was created in August 2014 and then updated in October 2015 by subtracting the urban footprint from the Waikato Region boundary (including offshore extents). If the urban boundary changes then the rural boundary needs to be changed accordingly.
