| Abstract: |
This data set contains a collection of fundamental layers for Civil Defence and Emergency Management including CDEM Areas, Buffers and area Masks for the Waikato Region. |
|---|
| Statement: |
The data extends throughout the Waikato Region. The WRC Political boundary is modified such that the Waitomo and Taupo data extends to match the Territorial Authority boundaries, and Rotorua district data is excluded as that district is part of the Bay of Plenty CDEM Group.
Local Civil Defence Area data derived May 2011 and updated May 2014. Civil Defence Centre data acquired from CDEM managers through April and May 2011; NOTE: is out of date and in need of an update. It is important to NOTE the Civil Defence Centres data set represents facilities that could POTENTIALLY be used for welfare purposes in a CDEM activation, however this data is likely to be incomplete and is in need of an update. As such is should be used with caution.
The primary purpose of these data is to assist CDEM operations in planning for and responding to an emergency event. The data are presented in Waikato Regional Council’s intranet GIS application Smart Maps. It is likely the data will also be presented on the Council public mapping site.
