Locations of Navigation Safety features. |

| Statement: |
Underwater Rock and Beacon Buoy data from New Zealand Light List published by LINZ. Safety Aid data was captured using GPS technology or from existing data sets by WRC Navigation Safety. Photos have been captured from some points. All data, photos and attributes are loaded to oracle using a bespoke web based application developed by WRC.
This Underwater Rock and Beacon Buoy dataset was initially loaded into the GIS in August 2004. Updated 23rd June 2006 using update from LINZ New Zealand Light List dated 23rd June 2006.
This was subsequently replaced by Safety Aid data originally collected and loaded May to July 2007 and will be periodically updated by navigational safety staff as required.

The extent of this Data is Coastal Areas throughout Waikato Regional Council Region. Some Maritime New Zealand administered features are outside Waikato Regional Council Region.
Some of the points have been surveyed using GPS technology, other co-ordinates are sourced from the Nautical Almanac published by LINZ and available on the internet. Data Quality Assured by Harbour Masters and Navigation Safety staff.
Safety Aid data feature data collected from various sources including GPS, the attribute positional accuracy describes the accuracy of each point.

Bylaw zones were created form the text in the bylaw schedule detailing the zones properties. Some zones were directly imported from layers created by the comms group from the 2009 safety bylaw book.
