Abstract: Bathymetry survey of entrance and bar to Port Waikato
Statement: Survey line spacing 50 - 150m inside estuary, 75 - 150 over spit, 400m over ebb tidal delta. No correction for heave, no check against tide data. Bathymetry collected by eCoast in six west coast estuaries was part of a wider project that developed hydrodynamic models and a methodology for calculating residence times. The fieldwork was undertaken between 17th August 2015 and 16th December 2015 along the Waikato west coast, namely Waikato River estuary, Aotea Harbour, Kawhia Harbour, Marokopa River estuary, Awakino River estuary and Mokau River estuary.

Other Information: Data collected in WGS84 and corrected to NZTM and NZVD. Data supplied as NZTM and NZVD. Single beam echo sounder (model unknown) deployed from jet ski, with RTK-GPS (model unknown). Bathymetric data collected at 1Hz only. Contract included 6 bathymetry surveys, field data collection and model development. Data collected for Hydrodynamic Model and Residence Times of the Waikato West Coast Discover Doc# 8997234 - WRC Technical Report 2016/19.
